Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic disease that seriously affects human health. It is characterized by persistent respiratory symptoms and airflow limitation. The causes of this disease are airway and/or alveolar abnormalities as a result of significant exposure to harmful particulate matters or gases. In April 2018, the first result of a large-scale population study named Adult Lung Health Research in China, was completed by Academician Wang Chen and his team. It is being published in Lancet, an international authoritative magazine. The result shows that the number of COPD patients in China has exceeded 100 million, which becomes the third commonest chronic disease in China, second only to hypertension and diabetes. Due to factors such as environmental pollution and aging population, the incidence of COPD will be higher in the future.

With economic development and changes in the environment and lifestyle, allergic diseases represented by nasal allergies have become one of the most important health issues in the world.According to statistics, about 600 million people worldwide suffer from allergic rhinitis (AR). The prevalence of allergic rhinitis in China rose from 11.1% in 2005 to 17.6% in 2011. Allergic rhinitis symptoms such as nasal congestion and runny nose not only plague the patient's normal work and study, but also may affect the physical and mental health of the patient. Allergic rhinitis also affects children's health and affects the learning, lifestyle and quality of sleep for children and adolescents.
